Sultan Badlishah Library began its operation simultaneously with the registration of the earliest batch of 162 students at the end of 1997. Initially, it was situated in Academic Building and was under a clerk’s supervision. Later, the library managed to have a librarian to lead the library management by the time it was fully operated in early 1998.

Currently, the library is lead by the Head of Library, Puan Norhayati Ismail with the help of two librarians who are Cik Atirah Ruslan and Cik Sufy Rabea Adawiya Idris. The library is also operating with the support of 26 supporting staff. Puan Norhayati Ismail holds the responsibility as the head unit of three Units in the library which are Administration Unit, Acquisition Unit and Quality Unit. Cik Atirah Ruslan is the Head of Information Service Unit, Customer Service and Collection Management Unit and Journal and Database Unit. Cik Sufy Rabea Adawiya Idris acts as the Head of Bibliographic Development Unit and Technical Processing Unit, System and Information Technology Unit and Bindery Unit.

A new building was made available in order to support the enhancement of teaching and learning system, researches and UiTM Kedah’s need for more updated information. In July 2001, it was relocated in a permanent building along with the facilities and equipment from the previous building. The library can accommodate approximately 650 users at a time.

The library is always improving its facilities and services for users’ assistance, which includes providing new furniture in January 2003. It took one month to put everything in the best locations. This installment involved the construction of the Main Counter, Series Publishing Counter, Information Technology Unit, desks and chairs for library users. It helps to enhance a conducive and comfortable environment in the library.
